WHAT IS A SWORN TRANSLATION?
A sworn translation is an official document delivered on paper which includes the stamp and signature of the legal translator, appointed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.
This certified document has legal validity and can be submitted to all public and private institutions including ministries, courts, consulates, notaries, etc.
To give you an idea, it’s common for different organisations and entities to ask for an official translation of university degrees, birth certificates, academic records, marriage certificates, death certificates, etc.
WHO CARRIES OUT A SWORN TRANSLATION?
These are translations which can only be carried out by official certified translators with a corresponding Sworn Translator’s Certificate. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
We have to take into account that these are official documents with legal validity. This means that the sworn translator who does them is an expert in the sector and has passed a challenging exam for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or has taken specific courses in sworn translation to obtain the Sworn Translator’s Certificate.
This permits them to stamp and sign the text and thus bestow full legal validity on the document.
